An 18 year old suspect involved in a chase with police in Fond du lac and Dodge counties has pleaded not guilty in Fond du lac County. Maxwell Decker of Berlin entered the plea this month in Fond du Lac County Circuit Court to two counts of taking a vehicle without the owners consent and eluding. A plea and sentencing hearing is scheduled for February 26th. Decker was convicted of vehicle theft in Dodge County and is awaiting sentencing. Decker is accused of stealing four vehicles and leading authorities on a chase that ended in three separate crashes. Each time Decker fled on foot and stole another vehicle. He was arrested in Jefferson County.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
