Fond du Lac Republican state representative Jeremy Thiesfeldt says he thought governor Scott Walker delivered an uplifiting message during his state of the state address this week. Responding to critics who argue Wisconsin lags other Midwest states in terms of job creation Thiesfeldt says that’s been the case before Walker became governor. “When you compare to other states in the midwest, that certainly is a valid comparison, but I think you have to go back longer than when Scott Walker was in office,” Thiesfeldt told AM 1170 WFDL’s Between the Lines program. “I would think you would find probably pretty similar statistics if you were to go back years before that.” Thiesfeldt says singling out recent mass layoff notices ignores that there have been significant hirings going on as well. Thiesfeldt says he wants more time to review a series of bills the governor has dubbed his college affordability plan before deciding how he will vote. He says he likes the governor’s idea of a three year degree at the UW System.
