1-26-16 lost dog bill

todayJanuary 26, 2016

The Fond du lac Animal Shelter manager says she has mixed feelings about a proposed bill regarding Court Case Dogs and lost pets.  A provision in the bill would reduce the required holding time at animal shelters for lost pets from seven to four days.  Fond du Lac Animal Shelter manager, Renee Webb says the problem with having a specific time frame is that every situation is different.  “I can’t speak for every animal shelter in the state of Wisconsin.  I know in our case pretty close to and sometimes more than 60% of the dogs that come into the shelter are reclaimed by owners within the first four days,”  Webb told WFDL news.   Webb says that’s separate from dogs that are seized from cruelty or dog-fighting situations.
