A 43 year old Waupun man has been arrested following an armed confrontation with police. Police Chief Dale Heeringa says the incident happened early Saturday morning in the 400 block of Bittersweet Avenue. Heeringa says police were investigating a family matter at the suspect’s home with his wife, when the man came out of a room with two handguns. “He had a confrontation with our officers in the narrow hallway of the ranch style home where he stepped out of the bathroom with a revolver to his head and a semi-automatic pistol at his side,” Heeringa said. After a brief confrontation with officers the subject surrendered the firearms at gunpoint. “I think its extremely fortunate that no shots were fired,” Heeringa told WFDL news. “It came down to with the finger on the trigger pointing at the person ready to shoot and we don’t know what the total intentions were of the other person with the guns.” The subject was transported to a mental health facility.
