1-27-16 feingold says race is about security and economy

todayJanuary 27, 2016

MILWAUKEE (AP) — Former U.S. Sen. Russ Feingold says the country’s top priority should be national security.  But Feingold, who is trying to win his old seat back from GOP Sen. Ron Johnson, said that has to be balanced with the economic concerns of middle-class people. Feingold, a Democrat, says his campaign can be about both issues.  Feingold spoke Tuesday in Milwaukee at a town hall meeting sponsored by Marquette.  He said he supports a national security strategy that focuses on intelligence gathering, targeted strikes and diplomacy. He also said he supports a minimum wage increase.  The Feingold-Johnson rematch is closely watched as Democrats hope to re-take the Senate. Johnson is due to appear at a Marquette University town hall Feb. 5.
