1-28-16 tree stands

todayJanuary 28, 2016

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — The Department of Natural Resources will soon start work on new rules allowing Wisconsin hunters to leave tree stands and ground blinds on agency-managed lands overnight.  The agency’s current prohibition on overnight stands aims to keep people from staking out territory. But agency officials say overnight stands are allowed on other public lands and could be convenient for older hunters.  The Natural Resources Board voted Wednesday to allow the DNR to start work on the new rules, which could have a trial period on DNR lands.  The next step will be public hearings on April 11 in each county. The rules could be in place for the fall 2017 season.
