1-18-16 fdl county sheriff’s office warns ice conditions are still dangerous on area lakes

The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office says area lakes are not entirely safe despite the recent cold snap.  Last week two men had to be rescued on Lake Poygan.  Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s sergeant Jeff Bonack says there are still areas of open water on Lake Winnebago.  Bonack says ice conditions on Lake Winnebago can change rapidly depending on the wind.  Bonack says check with area fishing clubs and bait shops before you go […]

1-18-16 brownsville man arrested following high speed chase in fdl

A Brownsville man was arrested following a high speed chase in Fond du Lac over the weekend.  The chase started shortly before 4:30am Saturday on West 9th Street near the Aquatic Center and continued on South Military Road with speeds near 90 miles an hour.  The chase ended near Highwway 151 when the driver lost control of the vehicle and hit a snowbank.  The 20 year old driver tried to flee on foot but was apprehended […]

The North Fond du Lac school superintendent says he fears a bill that would allow residents to carry concealed weapons on school grounds would make schools less safe. BRILLION, Wis. (AP) — Dozens of Muslim employees at a Wisconsin snow blowers manufacturer say they are now out of a job after Ariens Company changed its prayer-on-the-job policy. The Brillion-based company changed the policy Thursday. Until then, Muslim employees were allowed to leave the production line twice a shift to pray. 1-18-16 four wisconsin walmarts closing

MILWAUKEE (AP) — Four Wisconsin Walmart stores will shut down this month as part of the wave of closures announced by the retail giant. The affected stores in the state are a Walmart in Milwaukee and Neighborhood Markets in Menomonee Falls, Waukesha and Wauwatosa. The company says on its website that the Wisconsin stores will close January 28th.

1-16-16 former st. marys springs cross country coach elected to wi hall of fame

A former St. Mary’s Springs cross country coach has been recognized for the program’s success during his leadership.  Bob Baker was inducted  into the Wisconsin Cross Country Coaches Association Hall of Fame this month.  Baker became head coach in 1990 and the girls’ team won six state titles over the next eight years and two runner-up finishes in 1994 and 1999. The boys cross country team won two conference championships during that time.
