1-5-16 fdl rollover crash

Nobody was seriously injured in a one vehicle rollover crash in Fond du Lac.  Rescue personnel were called to the scene on southbound Interstate 41 shortly before 6am Tuesday.  The car had rolled over on its top on 41..just north of Johnson Street.

1-5-16 cold case murder suspect to go on trial this week on drug charges

1-5-16 statewide traffic fatalities up

Wisconsin transportation officials say traffic deaths increased by 13 percent in 2015. The state ended the year with 556 fatalities, up from 494 in 2014.   There were 12 fatalities each in Fond du Lac and Dodge counties.  Department of Transportation officials said in a news release Monday that warm spring weather, cheap gas and an improving economy likely contributed to more vehicles on the road and miles traveled. 1-5-16 lawmakers introduce owi legislation

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Two Republican lawmakers are trying again to increase penalties for repeat drunken driving. Rep. Jim Ott and Sen. Alberta Darling have introduced a bill that would make a fourth offense a felony punishable by up to three years in prison. Right now a fourth offense is a misdemeanor punishable by up to a year in jail. Darling and Ott introduced a similar bill last session.

(AP) — An anti-abortion group has started airing a television commercial calling on Assembly Speaker Robin Vos to hold a vote on a bill that would prohibit research using tissue taken from aborted fetuses. MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Wisconsin employers notified the state of more than 10,000 layoffs in 2015 — the most in since 2010.  The Department of Workforce Development says 37 percent of the 10,104 layoff notices came from the Milwaukee area. 1-5-16 safe ride thief arrested

A man wanted for questioning in the theft of a van from a Safe Ride Program driver in Dodge County last week has been arrested.  Sheriff Dale Schmidt says Brian Krieger was apprehended over the weekend in Waukesha.  Schmidt says the Safe Ride driver, Ronald Gaffner, let Krieger sleep on his couch during last week’s snowstorm.  The next morning Krieger was gone and so was Gaffner’s flat screen television and mini van.  Schmidt says another […]

1-5-16 fdl fire chief pleased with sentence for arsonist

The Fond du Lac Fire Chief says he’s satisfied with a sentence given a man convicted of setting fire to his home.  Colin Habram was sentenced last week to 17 years in prison and ten years extended supervision.   Police say Habram set fire to his Ellis Street home last spring to collect insurance money to buy heroin.  Fond du Lac Fire Chief Pete O’leary says while he feels bad for Habram because of his drug […]
