Fond du Lac fire investigators believe a portable heater may have started a fire that damaged a garage this week. Firefighters were called to the scene at 440 Portage Street Tuesday afternoon. Fire chief Pete O’Leary says it appears the fire started near a portable heating unit in the garage. Nobody was injured in the fire.
A survey through the UW-Fond du Lac Extension Office shows that eleven municipalities in Fond du lac County have average radon levels that exceed the EPA’s safety limit. Extension agent, Diana Tscheschlok, says the EPA limit is four pico Curies per liter. Eve Nance is charged with first degree intentional homicide in the shooting death of her husband Timothy Nance at their Fond du Lac home and disposing of his body in Milwaukee. Sheboygan Falls Public Safety Director Steven Riffel identifies the children who died as 7-year-old Carter Maki and 11-year-old Natalie Martin.
