A Brandon man convicted of possession of child pornography has been sentenced to prison.  Thirty eight year old Scott Knuuttila pleaded no contest to two counts of possession of child pornography.  Eight counts were dismissed and read into the record.  Fond du Lac Judge Robert Wirtz sentenced Knuuttila to four years in prison followed by three years of extended supervision.  Knuuttila was a volunteer with the Dodge County Emergency Response  team until he was arrested last May.

The Fond du Lac Fire and Rescue Department says the use of Narcan was down last year…but the number of drug overdose deaths was up.  Assistant Chief of EMS, Todd Janquardt, says paramedics administered Narcan 63 times in 2015 compared to 88 the year before.  Janquardt says the number of overdose deaths in 2015 more than doubled.  Janquardt says even though Narcan use was down significantly its way too early to say we […]

The author of a package of anti-heroin bills says he’s pleased the state senate has approved the measures.  The bills would crack down on tracking prescription drugs as a way to combat heroin abuse.  State representative John Nygren says one bill would require opiate dispensers to enter prescriptions into a  statewide database within 24 hours.  Other bills would require police who find an opiate prescription at an overdose scene to enter it into the database, […]

The Fond du Lac City Council recently completed City Manager Joseph Moore’s 2015 performance review. Using a scale of one to five to measure 15 elements of performance and leadership, one being poor and five being outstanding, the City Council provided Moore a combined average rating of 4.73.  Council President Lee Ann Lorrigan called Moore’s performance impressive. Nobody was injured in a fire that damaged a Fond du Lac home over the weekend. As ice fishing heats up on the Lake Winnebago System, the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources is urging anglers to report the incidental catch of round gobies in the lower Fox River above the Rapide Croche Dam,  in Little Lake Butte des Morts and in Lake Winnebago.  Round gobies are destructive aquatic invaders and were discovered in Little Lake Butte des Morts immediately below the Neenah Dam last August.
