MILWAUKEE (AP) — A New Jersey couple who admitted to defrauding a Kohl's department store customer rewards program of $600,000 has been sentenced and ordered to pay restitution in federal court in Milwaukee.  Pavan Gurram was sentenced Thursday to a year and six months in federal prison and ordered to pay nearly $450,000 in restitution. MADISON, Wis. (AP) — A Lincoln Hills School employee has been fired for excessive use of force and three others quit after they were put on paid leave as authorities investigate allegations of prisoner abuse.   Travis Taves was fired Friday. GERMANTOWN, Wis. (AP) — Police in Germantown are looking for suspects after a trailer containing about $70,000 worth of cheese was stolen from a trucking company.  Police say the trailer was taken early Friday from D and G Transportation. 1-23-16 dassey moved to portage prison

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Steven Avery's nephew, convicted in the 2005 sexual assault and murder of Teresa Halbach, has been moved from the Green Bay Correctional Institution.  The Wisconsin Department of Corrections' website shows Brendan Dassey is incarcerated at the Columbia Correctional Institution in Portage.  Dassey had been at the prison in Allouez  since 2009.  There's no immediate word from corrections officials on why the 26-year-old Dassey was moved. 1-23-16 lake michigan ferry gets national historic designation

LUDINGTON, Mich. (AP) — The last coal-fired steamship operating on the Great Lakes has been assigned National Historic Landmark designation.  The 410-foot SS Badger launched service on Lake Michigan between Wisconsin and Michigan in 1952. The ferry can carry 600 passengers and 180 vehicles.  The designation, which had been sought for years, was announced this week. 1-23-16 berlin man pleads not guilty to car theft-chase charges

An 18 year old suspect involved in a chase with police in Fond du lac and Dodge counties has pleaded not guilty in Fond du lac County.  Maxwell Decker of Berlin entered the plea this month in Fond du Lac County Circuit Court to two counts of taking a vehicle without the owners consent and eluding.  A plea and sentencing hearing is scheduled for February 26th.   Decker was convicted of vehicle theft in […]
