The city of Fond du Lac will be accepting applications from people interested in serving on a committee to outline a vision for the future of Fond du Lac’s downtown. The city council approved formation of the downtown vision team at a meeting last month and discussed the formation of the committee at their meeting Wednesday night. City manager Joe Moore says he hopes the city council can approve committee appointments in about a month. Moore says the committee is expected to report back to the council with their findings and any recommendations by the end of the year.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
