A Fond du Lac County Board supervisor who was not seeking re-election this spring has died. Supervisor Tom Schumacher died Tuesday at his home near Campbellsport following an illness. He was 70. Board chairman Marty Farrell made the announcement prior to this week’s county board meeting. Schumacher served only one term on the board and could not run for another term because he had moved out of the district.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
