2-24-16 fire destroys fdl tavern

Nobody was injured in a fire that has destroyed the Wayside Tavern in Fond du Lac.    Division Chief of Fire Prevention Troy Haase says firefighters were called to the scene on West Division Street shortly after 4:30am Wednesday.  “The fire is out, we have crews working trying to get into the hot spots.  The building is collapsed down onto the first floor,”  Haase told WFDL news.  Haase says the apartments above the bar were unoccupied.  The bar had closed a couple hours before the fire was reported.  The cause of the fire is unknown at this point.  The Wayside was a popular spot for Friday fish fry.
