2-26-16 fdl police officer involved in sex scandal reinstated, then placed on administrative leave

todayFebruary 26, 2016

The Fond du lac Police and Fire Commission will decide if a Fond du lac police officer who resigned two years ago and then later challenged his resignation in circuit court  should be fired.    Curt Beck and three other police officers resigned following an internal investigation into extramarital affairs involving the officers.  The police report concluded the officers violated the Department’s Core Values and may have violated department policy including conduct unbecoming an officer.  A circuit judge recently decided that Beck should be reinstated because a resignation agreement reached with the city was illegal.  Beck’s attorney Dan Kaminsky has filed claims with the police and fire commission stating police chief Bill Lamb committed perjury during the investigation and should be suspended or removed from office.  Legal counsel for the Department, Jim Macy, says the pre-emptive charges  “are without merit and border on frivolous.”   He says the Department is confident that a full hearing before the commission will set the record straight in support of the police chief and department as a whole.  A hearing date has not yet been set.
