2-3-16 fdl county sheriff’s office warns motorists to slow down

The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office has been busy responding to numerous vehicle run offs as a winter storm moves north through Wisconsin.  Sheriff’s captain Rick Olig says motorists need to slow down.  Olig says in a one hour stretch between 1pm and 2pm Tuesday there were at least nine runoffs on Highway 41 north of Fond du Lac.

2-3-16 nfdl fire

Nobody was injured in a fire that damaged a NFDL business.  Firefighters from NFDL and FDL were called to the Dollar General store on Prospect Avenue around 8am Tuesday.  Fond du Lac Fire Chief Pete O'Leary says the fire was reported by an employee after he showed up for work.  The fire was extinguished in less than a hour.  The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

A Fond du Lac man says he is alive today thanks to quick thinking YMCA members and an employee at the Fond du Lac Y.  Sixty eight year old Gary Gerner says he was on an elliptical machine earlier this month when he suddenly collapsed.  When Gerner didn’t respond two women who were nearby started CPR and a few seconds later Y Aquatics and Family Coordinator Jennie Mildebrandt administered the automated external defibrillator.  "What […]

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Senate Majority Leader Scott Fitzgerald has introduced a bill that would bar county executives from serving simultaneously in the Legislature. The bill comes as Winnebago County Executive Mark Harris, a Democrat, is gearing up to run for Republican Sen.
