3-2-16 dodge county sheriff’s office law of the month

todayMarch 2, 2016

The Sheriff’s Office often gets complaints of motorists not using their directionals to indicate a turn.   This is a safety concern as well as a courtesy to other users of the roads.  Failure to give signal carries a fine of $175.30 and 3 points.  2nd violation within a year is $213.10 and another 3 points.  Wisconsin Statute 346.34 (1)(b) states: 346.34(1)346.34(1)(b)In the event any other traffic may be affected by the movement, no person may turn any vehicle without giving an appropriate signal.    Per the statute appropriate signal are the directionals on the vehicle or proper hand signals. Motorists should always use their directionals when making a turn or changing lanes on a divided highway.  This allows other drivers to react if necessary.  Captain Trace Frost of the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office said “All motorists should use their directionals to indicate turns.  This simple act will make the roads safer for all.”
