Fond du Lac County is getting off to another safe start on area roads in terms of traffic fatalities. Fond du lac County Sheriff’s captain Rick Olig told the county traffic safety commission Tuesday that so far this year there have been no traffic fatalities in Fond du Lac county. Olig says starting the year without any traffic fatalities is not necessarily unusual…pointing to just two years ago when there weren’t any fatalities for the first half of the year.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
