The Fond du Lac Animal Shelter is caring for three puppies found in a trash can in Milwaukee. The Pit Bull-mix puppies were found by a passerby and taken to a Milwaukee Animal Shelter and later transferred to Fond du Lac. Fond du lac Animal Shelter manager, Renee Webb, says Badger Rescue Animal Transport Services or BRATS brought the newborn pups to Fond du Lac. A spokesperson for BRATS says the service was started to reduce euthanasia rates at shelters.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
