3-17-16 unemployment rates up in wisconsin cities

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Unemployment rates rose in all of Wisconsin's largest cities in January including Fond du lac.  Preliminary data the state Department of Workforce Development released Wednesday shows unemployment rates in every one of the state's 32 largest cities increased from December. Racine had the highest rate at 7.2 percent, up from 6 percent in December. Fitchburg had the lowest at 3.3 percent.

3-16-15 fdl man arrested following foot chase with police

A Fond du Lac man faces charges after running from police officers following a traffic stop.  Police found the 37 year old man hiding behind a garage on Boardman Street.  He was wanted on outstanding warrants from another community.  The man was a passenger in the vehicle.  The driver was arrested for operating without a valid license and marijuana possession.

3-16-16 waupun school district plans to go to referendum

The Waupun School District plans to go to referendum this fall for a major district-wide facilities upgrade.   The district Facilities Advisory Committee met Monday to finalize its priorities.  Superintendent  Tanya Gubin says the total cost would be in the neighborhood of $30 million.  The school board will finalize the question and costs by the end of August.  A community survey will be mailed out in May.  Gubin says specific priorities […]

3-16-16 waupun memorial hospital expansion

Waupun Memorial Hospital has announced construction will begin next month on a multi-million dollar expansion project.  The $23 million project involves a two story, nearly 53,000 square foot addition on the northside of the hospital.  Waupun Memorial Chief Operating Officer DeAnn Thurmer says the new patient building will feature 21 inpatient rooms,  including 15 medical/surgical rooms, three intensive care rooms and three Labor/delivery/recovery rooms.  Thurmer says each room will also feature a 42 inch interactive […]

3-16-16 fdl man sentenced to prison for armed robbery

A Fond du Lac man convicted of armed robbery is going to prison.  Fond du Lac judge Peter Grimm sentenced Ryder Klaassen to 10 years in prison followed by 15 years of extended supervision.  The judge also ordered five years probation when Klaassen is released from prison.  Klaassen was convicted of armed robbery and felony bail jumping.  District Attorney Eric Toney says the robbery had a significant impact  on the victim and […]

3-16-16 two fdl elementary schools named title one schools of recognition

Two Fond du Lac elementary schools have been named Wisconsin Title One Schools of Recognition.  Fond du Lac School superintendent, Dr. Jim Sebert,  says Chegwin and Parkside Elementary Schools were among 169 schools recognized in Madison Monday.
