3-9-16 walker signs temporary teaching license bill

BROWN DEER, Wis. (AP) — Gov. Scott Walker signed a bill into law that creates a temporary teaching license based on experience for vocational education teachers. The law creates a licensing process based on experience in noncore subjects, including agriculture, child services, food services and marketing education. Vocational teachers hired by a school district are issued a three-year teaching license by the Department of Public Instruction.

3-8-16 fdl city staff recommending against downtown roundabout

3-8-16 state health officials expect cases of rare bacterial blood infection to grow

State health officials say they expect the number of cases of a rare bacterial bloodstream infection to grow.   A team of federal, state and local investigators are looking for the source of the infection that has infected 44 people and is linked to 18 deaths in Wisconsin.  Director of the state Bureau of Communicable Diseases, Stephanie Smiley says the bacteria has infected more than 40 people in 11 southeast Wisconsin counties including Fond du Lac […]

3-8-16 fdl county sheriff’s office receives state traffic safety grants

The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office has received two state grants for traffic enforcement on Highway 23 east of Fond du lac and seatbelt compliance.   Sheriff’s captain Rick Olig says a $40,000 grant will provide additional deputies to concentrate on Highway 23 from the 151 Bypass to the Sheboygan County line.  Olig says the enforcement effort will continue through September.  Meanwhile, a $36,000 grant will be used for seatbelt enforcement throughout the county.

3-8-16 ripon man bound over for trial on armed robbery charges

A Ripon man arrested in connection with a drug-related armed robbery has been bound over for trial.  Joseph Hunt waived his preliminary hearing on a charge of armed robbery.  Authorities say Hunt robbed a Ripon man at knifepoint during a heroin buy.  Hunt is being held in the Fond du lac County Jail on $5000 cash bail.

3-8-16 victim identified in fiery dodge county fatal crash

The Dodge County Sheriff’s Office has identified the victim who was killed in a one vehicle crash in Dodge County over the weekend.   The Sheriff’s office says 23 year old Alan James Heider from New Berlin was pronounced dead at the scene  on County Highway DW at Idaho Road in the town of Herman.  Sheriff Dale Schmidt says Heider failed to stop for the stop sign at the intersection, struck a tree and the vehicle caught fire.    […]
