4-5-16 marian university chamber singers to tour green bay area

todayApril 5, 2016

Marian University chamber singers will be traveling to Green Bay to collaborate on a performance of the Mozart Requiem with the Green Bay Civic Symphony. This performance will take place Sunday, April 17 at 3pm at the historic Meyer Theater in downtown Green Bay.  Marian students will join collegiate singers from the University of Wisconsin – Green Bay and St. Norbert College, as well as singers from the community, in a massed choir of nearly 300 for this cornerstone work of the 18th century.  In addition to the Mozart performance, the Chamber Singers will perform concerts at three Catholic high school partners: Xavier High School, Appleton; Lourdes Academy, Oshkosh; and Roncalli High School, Manitowoc. The tour rounds out with musical leadership at two masses in the Green Bay area: Saturday, April 16, 4pm at The Cathedral of St. Xavier in and Sunday, April 17 at Sts. Peter and Paul at 10am.   The Marian University Chamber Singers, under the direction of David Hein, is a mixed chorus open to all Marian students by audition. Exemplifying the best of the liberal arts tradition in which Marian is grounded, a majority of the choir is enrolled in a degree program other than music. Many singers describe their experience in the choir as an invaluable extension of their Marian education and choose to participate out of a love of singing choral music and for the sense of community found in the choir.
