MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Voter advocacy groups say Wisconsin’s huge voter turnout Tuesday could have been even higher without the state’s new photo identification requirement. The 2011 voter ID law went into effect this year after lengthy court battles and had its first statewide run in the February election.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
