Funeral services were held Monday for a Fond du Lac High School guidance counselor killed in a traffic crash last week while driving to work. Services were held Monday in Cedar Grove for Matt Heinen. Heinen was killed last Thursday morning when he lost control of his car on slippery Highway 23 and was hit by an oncoming vehicle. Superintendent Dr. Jim Sebert and other school officials attending a visitation for Heinen Sunday. Sebert says its been difficult for students and staff, including the fellow counselors who worked with Heinen. Sebert says that’s why the high school brought in counselors from the elementary schools to help. “When situations like this happen in a school its the counselors that you lean on, that really have the background and the skill set to help people navigate through these types of challenges,” Sebert told WFDL news. The 35 year old Heinen was in his second year with the Fond du lac School District. He leaves behind a wife and three children, ages four, seven and nine.
