MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Sens. Ron Johnson and Tammy Baldwin are holding a hearing on heroin use Friday in Pewaukee. Johnson, a Republican, says the rise of heroin-related deaths in Wisconsin is directly related to the insecurity of U.S. borders. “Drugs flow freely through our borders,” Johnson told AM 1170 WFDL’s Between the Lines program.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
