The Dodge County Sheriff says Saturday Night Live missed the boat. Sheriff Dale Schmidt says he was offended by a skit called “Heroin AM” which he says made light of the effects of heroin and those who use it. Schmidt says whether intended or not, the skit appeared to promote the use of this deadly drug. Schmidt says he sent a letter to NBC expressing his concern and asked the network to apologize and take action to make sure broadcasts like this do not happen again. Schmidt says there is nothing funny about heroin addiction.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
