4-8-16 fdl hometown bank robbery suspect in custody

Fond du Lac police say a suspect in the Hometown Bank robbery in Fond du Lac last year is in custody in another county.    The March 24th, 2015 robbery occurred minutes before an unrelated shootout that claimed the life of a state patrol trooper in Fond du lac.  Assistant police chief Steve Klein told WFDL news the suspect is from the Stevens Point area and is in custody in another jurisdiction.  The suspect has not […]

4-8-16 sheboygan falls fatal fire investigation

SHEBOYGAN FALLS, Wis. (AP) — Investigators say they've determined a fire that killed three children at a Sheboygan Falls home started in the basement.  But, the official cause of the January fire is listed as "undetermined."  A state investigative report says the blaze likely originated in a basement playroom near a sectional coach and might have been ignited by faulty electrical wiring around a ceiling light or the light bulb itself. 4-8-16 elderly woman seriously injured in two vehicle accident thursday afternoon

An 82 year old Glenbeulah, Wisconsin woman was transported to St. Agnes Hospital with what appeared to be life-threatening injuries following a car versus truck crash east of Fond du Lac Thursday afternoon.   Rescue personnel were called to the scene on Highway 23  and Pit Road near Mount Calvary around 2:30pm.   A female driver was pinned in the vehicle and had to be extricated.   Sheriff's captain Rick Olig says it appears the woman […]

4-8-16 fdl high school guidance counselor killed in car crash

Fond du Lac School District students and staff are mourning the loss of a high school guidance counselor.  Matt Heinen was killed in a car crash while driving to work Thursday morning.  Heinen lost control of his car on slippery Highway 23 near Whispering Springs Boulevard and veered into the oncoming lane of traffic striking an SUV.  He died at the scene.  The crash happened shortly before 7:30am Thursday.  Sheriff's Lieutenant […]

The city of Fond du Lac and Fond du lac Fire Department get an A when it comes to fire protection efforts.  Fire Chief Pete O’Leary says the city has been awarded a Class One rating for fire protection from the Insurance Services Office.  O’Leary says Fond du Lac is one of only two cities in the state and 180 cities out of approximately 48,000 in the country to receive the top rating .  […]
