4-21-16 fdl police continue investigation into taycheeda prison inmate death

Fond du lac police are investigating the death of an inmate at the Taycheeda women’s prison.  Assistant police chief Steve Thiry says the 34 year old woman was not in her cell when she collapsed and died at the prison last Wednesday.  Thiry says at this point the investigation is ongoing and nothing has been ruled out including the possibility of foul play.

4-21-16 local unemployment rate down

The local unemployment rate is down in the latest reporting period.  The state Department of Workforce Development says the jobless rate dropped from 4.9 percent in February to 4.3 percent in March in the city of Fond du Lac.  The Dodge County unemployment rate stands at 4.8 percent in March, down from 5.4 percent the month before.   Preliminary data the state Department of Workforce Development released Wednesday shows unemployment rates in 30 in […]

Republican state representative Joan Ballweg of Markesan says the goal of the Rural Wisconsin Initiative is to bridge the rural-urban gap in Wisconsin.  Two bills have been signed into law and Ballweg says six more bills remain priorities for next year’s budget.  One bill signed by the governor last week  forgives 25 percent of state higher education board loans annually as long as the teacher doesn’t work in an urban area. 4-21-16 oshkosh man charged in dodge county with having sex with underage girl

An Oshkosh man has been charged with having sex with an underage girl in Dodge County in 2014.  Twenty year old Neil Kienast made his initial court appearance Monday.  He’s charged with 2nd degree sexual assault of a child and using a computer to facilitate a child sex crime.  Kienast and the then-15 year old victim allegedly met on the website, meetme.com.  Kienast is accused of meeting and having sexual […]

4-21-16 fundraiser this weekend for family of oakfield girl who needs kidney transplant

Oakfield Elementary School teacher Jodi Schmidt says when she got the idea to donate one of her kidneys to help a student there was never a doubt in her mind.   Schmidt learned recently that she was a match to donate a kidney to help eight year old Natasha Fuller lead a normal life.  Natasha was born with a kidney disease and doctors say she desparately needs a transplant.   She says the school has been tremendously […]

The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office will be holding a boater safety course May 10th, 12th, 17th, and 19th from 6:00 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. Courses will be held at the Fond du Lac City/County Government Center, 160 S. MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker says he would back Donald Trump as the Republican presidential nominee, even though he endorsed Ted Cruz. Walker tells reporters that he will back whoever is the nominee, even if it's Trump. Before he endorsed Cruz earlier this month, Walker had pledged to support whoever is the nominee.
