4-20-16 fdl city council reorganization meeting

Newly elected Fond du Lac city council members have been  sworn into office.   At an organizational meeting Tuesday City Clerk Maggie Hefter administered the oath of office to newcomers Kay Miller and Derek Terbeest and incumbents Lee Ann Lorrigan and Karen Merkel.  Lorrigan was re-elected council president and Merkel was elected council vice president.  Miller, a Fond du Lac chiropractor, was the top vote getter in the April 5th election.

4-20-16 governor signs child abuse, trafficking bills

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Gov. Scott Walker has signed six bills designed to curtail child abuse and sex trafficking in Wisconsin.  The bills require the state to develop a procedure for investigating abuse of a disabled child; create the crime of repeated physical abuse of a child; and expand the definition of child sex trafficking to include transporting a child for commercial sex.  The remaining measures require the state, county […]

4-20-16 john doe probe into state youth prison expires

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — A state John Doe probe into allegations of abuse at Wisconsin's youth prison has expired under new time limits Republicans imposed last year.  Attorney General Brad Schimel and Lincoln County District Attorney Don Dunphy didn't seek an extension for the investigation at the Irma facility. Gov. Scott Walker signed a bill last year that limits such investigations to six months.

4-20-16 trial date scheduled for former fdl pool supervisor accused of sexually assaulting a lifeguard

A trial date has been scheduled for a former supervisor at Fond du Lac’s two outdoor swimming pools and assistant coach with the Fondy Swim Club accused of sexually assaulting a lifeguard.  Ryan Ronayne is scheduled to go on trial starting September 7th on charges of sexual assault of a child by a person who works with children and one count of child enticement.  Ronayne was also employed with the Green Lake County Sheriff’s Office […]

4-20-16 sheboygan falls man accused of threatening fdl residents with a gun

A Sheboygan Falls man has been charged in connection with a disturbance in Fond du Lac involving a weapon.  Forty year old Richard Trgovec is charged with first degree reckless endangerment, negligient use of a weapon and disorderly conduct.  Assistant police chief Steve Klein says Trgovec is accused of threatening people with a gun following an argument.  "It was a verbal altercation that escalated,"  Klein told WFDL news.  "He (Trgovec) went out to a […]
