Newly elected Fond du Lac city council members have been sworn into office. At an organizational meeting Tuesday City Clerk Maggie Hefter administered the oath of office to newcomers Kay Miller and Derek Terbeest and incumbents Lee Ann Lorrigan and Karen Merkel. Lorrigan was re-elected council president and Merkel was elected council vice president. Miller, a Fond du Lac chiropractor, was the top vote getter in the April 5th election.

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — A state John Doe probe into allegations of abuse at Wisconsin's youth prison has expired under new time limits Republicans imposed last year. Attorney General Brad Schimel and Lincoln County District Attorney Don Dunphy didn't seek an extension for the investigation at the Irma facility. Gov. Scott Walker signed a bill last year that limits such investigations to six months.
A trial date has been scheduled for a former supervisor at Fond du Lac’s two outdoor swimming pools and assistant coach with the Fondy Swim Club accused of sexually assaulting a lifeguard. A Sheboygan Falls man has been charged in connection with a disturbance in Fond du Lac involving a weapon. Forty year old Richard Trgovec is charged with first degree reckless endangerment, negligient use of a weapon and disorderly conduct.
