A brick maintenance program on a portion of Johnson Street in Fond du lac is getting underway. Work is scheduled to begin Sunday night to replace missing and damaged bricks in the crosswalks on Johnson St. between Pioneer Rd. and National Ave. The work is expected to take four to five days. Motorists are asked to be extra cautious when encountering the crew particularly when making turning movements. Only single lanes will be closed at any time.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
