A Fond du lac prosecutor says he believes the public needs to be protected from a man convicted last week in an armed robbery. Ronald Loving was convicted in connection with the robbery of the Highway 151 Mobile gas station last summer. Assistant DA, Dennis Krueger, says the owner and clerk is fortunate he wasn’t hurt or killed. “He (clerk) was in the back stocking merchandise when two people came in. He heard a commotion, he came out from the stock room, he saw one individual running across the parking lot where the gas pumps are,” Krueger told WFDL news. Krueger says the clerk confronted the man who was armed with an SKS assault rifle. “Money was flying everywhere. Mr. Singh (clerk) was terrified. He thought he might not survive the incident. “The gun was actually pointed at him,” Krueger said. Krueger says Loving yelled at the armed man to shoot. “He said shoot him, shoot him twice, and it turns out that the gun was loaded with 11 rounds.” Loving faces up to a maximum of 60 years in prison when he is sentenced. Two others charged in the robbery, Shawn Eubanks and Barbara Abernathy are still making their way through the court system.
