A Fond du Lac city councilmember says he wants the council to consider an ordinance that would allow people to take their pet dogs into city parks. Current ordinance prohibits allowing dogs in parks. Councilmember Brian Kolstad says he asked that the question be placed on Wednesday night’s council agenda for discussion. “I would be open for any type of change,” Kolstad told WFDL news. “I know there are some concerns about aggressive dogs around children, and I think there may be some ways to prevent that, mitigate those risks.” Kolstad says he would like to see the council refer to the matter to the Advisory Park Board for review.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
