The Fond du Lac Area Convention & Visitors Bureau is sponsoring a FREE community event – C’mon In – Fond du Lac Summer Event Kickoff – on Wednesday, May 18, 2016 at the Thelma Sadoff Center for the Arts– 51 Sheboygan Street, Fond du Lac, WI. Representatives will reveal the exciting summer schedule of hundreds of events and activities taking place in Fond du Lac and the Lake Winnebago Region, May-October 2016. Doors will open at 5PM and the program will begin at 6PM, followed by live music from Lighthouse Trio. The Fond du Lac Area Convention & Visitors Bureau encourages business and community leader and residents, to attend (and bring their calendars!) as they will hear from Fond du Lac Festivals, Fond du Lac County Fair, Downtown Fond du Lac Partnership, Fond du lac Artists Association, Thelma Sadoff Center for the Arts, and more with details, brochures and dates of their respective events. Recently, new figures from the Wisconsin Department of Tourism show Fond du Lac County tops the state in tourism growth in two categories – 10% increase in direct visitor spending from $120 million in 2014 to $132 million last year and nearly 8% increase in total business sales. “From historic sites, to events, and fairs and festivals, the Fond du Lac area has it all, and we are excited to kick off our most popular season – summer – with a free event for the whole community,” stated Craig Molitor, President and CEO of the Fond du Lac Area Convention & Visitors Bureau. “We invite everyone in the area to stop by and get more details on all the incredible activities and events going on, as we celebrate summer and being one of the leaders in the state in tourism”, he added. Attendees will also have the opportunity to win a “staycation” package including a hotel stay at our newest property, Holiday Inn Express and tickets to various events at the C’mon In – Fond du Lac Summer Kickoff.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
