An open house is being held this weekend at Fond du Lac’s newest assisted living facility. The Meadows opened April first in the former Rolling Meadows Nursing Home building situated on the 18th hole at Rolling Meadows Golf Course. Director of Good Life Assisted Living, Tim Burns, says the building has come full circle after the county closed the nursing home in September of 2006. ‘The structure itself was poured in place concrete so there was a solid shell to the building. But when we renovated it we’ve got everything new and the apartment views are phenomenal,” Burns told WFDL news. “We’ve got quite a few of the two bedrooms and one bedrooms with the patios and the views of the golf course are really phenomenal.” A public open house is being held from 11am to 7pm Saturday and Sunday.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
