Called to Care is the theme for EMS Week this week. In celebration, Fond du Lac Fire and Rescue held a public open house Wednesday afternoon. Assistant Chief of EMS, Todd Janquardt, says every day, EMS is called upon to help others through one of the most frightening times of their lives to provide a sense of security and relief during chaotic and challenging situations. “One of the most important things for EMS week is recognition of the care providers that are available in every community across the United States,” Janquardt told WFDL news. “It really talks about the dedication and the sacrifices that these personnel make both in their volunteer and career professions to actually provide EMS care for their communities.”

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
