Stressing the importance of offering nutritious meals to children during the summer , the Fond du Lac School District has announced the Summer Food Service Program. Under the program free meals will be made available to children 18 years of age and under. The free meals will be offered at Chegwin, Evans, Parkside and Riverside Elementary Schools, Fond du Lac High School, and Fond du Lac Boys and Girls Club. Each site will be open for breakfast and lunch. Food service will be provided June 13 – July 1 at each of the sites. Boys and Girls Club Site Food Service Program will extend until August 12.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
