5-12-16 fdl council refers dogs in parks question to park board

The Fond du Lac city council has forwarded a proposal to allow pet dogs in city parks to the Advisory Park Board for review.  Councilmember Brian Kolstad says there would be areas in parks where dogs would not be allowed to help alleviate any concerns people may have.  "Playgrounds would be one area, amphitheaters would be another,"  Kolstad said.  "There's really no rational reason why you shouldn't have a dog in a park." 5-12-16 walker okays voter id receipts at polls

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Gov. Scott Walker has approved an emergency rule that allows people waiting for state photo identification cards to vote with receipts showing they're trying to obtain an ID.  The governor signed the rule Wednesday. 5-12-16 uw green bay faculty expresses no confidence in system leaders

GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) — The University of Wisconsin-Green Bay's Faculty Senate has passed a resolution expressing no confidence in UW system leaders.  The vote Wednesday afternoon was 24-1.   After the vote, UW-Green Bay Chancellor Gary Miller said he respects the faculty senate's right to express its concerns, but that he "cannot support this action."  Similar votes have been held recently on other campuses, including UW-Madison and UW-Milwaukee.  UW faculty […]

5-12-16 fdl county dispatch center power failure

Emergency 911 and Sheriff’s Office administrative calls were back on line after a few hours following a power failure Wednesday morning in the Fond du Lac County Communications Center.  Fond du lac County Emergency Management director Jim McNabb says the power failure occurred Wednesday morning during a test of the system.  McNabb says the county’s back-up system worked as designed.   Calls were routed through the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office dispatch center until the problem was fixed.

5-11-16 long prison sentence for man who robbed fdl gas station

A Fond du lac man convicted last week in an armed robbery is going to prison.  At a sentencing hearing Tuesday afternoon Fond du lac Judge Peter Grimm sentenced Ronald Loving to 15 years in prison and 20 years of extended supervision.  The judge also ordered six years probation.  Loving was convicted in connection with the robbery of the Highway 151 Mobile gas station last summer.   Assistant DA, Dennis Krueger, says the sentence is appropriate. 5-11-16 milwaukee man charged with homicide in heroin overdose death of oakfield man

A Milwaukee man has been charged in the drug overdose  death of a Fond du Lac County man.  Stephen Jordan made his initial Fond du lac court appearance Tuesday on a charge of first degree reckless homicide/delivery of drugs.  Judge Robert Wirtz ordered a $1000 signature bond because Jordan was already in custody in Milwaukee County.  Jordan is accused of supplying the heroin that led to the overdose death of an Oakfield […]
