Improperly discarded cigarettes are apparently to blame for a fire that damaged a Fond du Lac duplex over the weekend.  Nobody was injured in the fire at 364 Fourth St.   A Joe’s Fox Hut pizza delivery driver noticed the fire and alerted nearby residents who dialed 911.  Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire but not before it caused some damage to the second floor deck where it started and the side of the house. 5-9-16 johnson street brick replacement

A brick maintenance program on a portion of Johnson Street in Fond du lac is getting underway.  Work is scheduled to begin Sunday night to replace missing and damaged bricks in the crosswalks on Johnson St. between Pioneer Rd. and National Ave.   The work is expected to take four to five days.   Motorists are asked to be extra cautious when encountering the crew particularly when making turning movements.  Only single lanes will be closed […]

5-7-16 cold case murder investigation

GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) — Unsealed court documents show that authorities are investigating the 1998 disappearance of a University of Wisconsin, Green Bay college student as a murder. The documents also outline a possible motive and person of interest in the disappearance of Amber Wilde. Wilde was 19 and pregnant when she disappeared in 1998. The documents show a man wanted her to get an abortion, but she refused.

5-7-16 man convicted of 8th owi in fdl county going to prison

An Appleton man arrested for repeat drunken driving in Fond du Lac County is going to prison.  At a hearing Friday Fond du Lac judge Dale English sentenced Corey Jansen to four and a half years in prison followed by five years of extended supervision.  Jansen was earlier convicted of his 8th OWI.

5-7-16 milwaukee man bound over for trial in dodge county weapons case

A Milwaukee man facing a felony weapons charge following the execution of a search warrant last week at a Dodge County residence has been bound over for trial. Probable cause was found at a preliminary hearing Thursday for 56 year old Kirk Lupton. 5-7-16 sheboygan falls man bound over for trial in fdl gun incident

A Sheboygan Falls man charged in connection with a disturbance in Fond du Lac involving a weapon has been bound over for trial.  Probable cause was found at a preliminary hearing Friday for 40 year old Richard Trgovec on charges of first degree reckless endangerment, negligient use of a weapon and disorderly conduct.  Assistant police chief Steve Klein says Trgovec is accused of threatening people with a gun following an argument.
