Appleton police say a Fond du Lac man was arrested on New Year’s for his 11th-OWI. Fifty two year old Steve A. Johnson, was arrested after police responded to a possible hit and run in the 100 block of South State Street. Johnson was arrested a few blocks from the crash scene. Nobody was injured. Johnson had a valid driver’s license at the time of the incident.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
