1-5-17 fdl judge approves foreclosure of historic octagon house

todayJanuary 5, 2017

Fond du Lac judge Richard Nuss has approved the foreclosure of the historic Octagon House in Fond du Lac.  The judge ruled that owner Marlene Hansen owed BMO Harris Bank more than $80,000 from a loan she took out in 1999 to make repairs to the home and hadn’t made a payment in two years.  The Octagon House dates back to the mid 1800s.  Inside the home are tunnels and false doors that were used to help slaves escape as part of the Underground Railroad.
