Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s deputies made over a thousand traffic stops and 16 OWI arrests during the recent Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign. Sheriff’s captain Ryan Waldschmidt says 577 traffic citations were issued and 618 warnings. The stepped up campaign ran from just before Christmas through the New Year’s holiday.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
