The Fondy Food Pantry has announced a new coordinator for its Food For Thought program. Pantry vice president Mallory Gilbertson has been hired for the post. The Food For Thought program helps feed elementary and middle-school aged children who are at risk of not having food to eat on weekends. Currently, over 650 children are on the program in the City of Fond du Lac, but the Food Pantry says that is only 29 percent of the estimated need.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
