A Greendale man involved in an armed stand off in Fond du Lac last week has been charged. Forty nine year old Brian Santistevan made his initial Fond du lac court appearance Monday on charges of disorderly conduct, battery, false imprisonment, threats to injure and strangulation-suffocation. Bail was set ata $4000 cash. Police were called to a residence on Sibley Street last week for a report that a woman and her 8 year old daughter were being held at knifepoint in their residence by the woman’s estranged boyfriend. The woman was able to leave the house with her child after the suspect had fallen asleep. The SWAT team was called and after a four and a half hour standoff Stantistevan was taken into custody. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Friday.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
