A Fond du Lac woman received serious but non life-threatening injuries in a two vehicle crash on Interstate 41. The crash happened shortly before 6:30am on southbound I-41 south of Church Road in Fond du Lac county. The state patrol says a car and straight truck were traveling southbound in the right lane when the car driver lost control on the snow covered road and spun out into the path of the truck. The collision sent the car into the median. The car driver, 61 year old Christine Smith of Fond du Lac was transported to St. Agnes Hospital with serious injuries. The truck driver was not injured. Both driver’s were alone in the vehicle and were wearing seatbelts. The left lane was closed for 45 minutes for EMS and vehicle removal.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
