A man involved in an armed stand off in Fond du Lac has been bound over for trial. Forty nine year old Brian Santistevan waived his preliminary hearing Friday on charges of disorderly conduct, battery, false imprisonment, threats to injure and strangulation-suffocation. Police were called to a residence on Sibley Street this month for a report that a woman and her 8 year old daughter were being held at knifepoint in their residence by the woman’s estranged boyfriend. The woman was able to leave the house with her child after the suspect had fallen asleep. The SWAT team was called and after a four and a half hour standoff Stantistevan was taken into custody.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
