2-3-17 investigators trying to determine if cat was tortured

The Fond du Lac Animal Shelter manager says she wonders if a cat that died after being kicked may have been tortured.  Preston Buck told police he kicked the cat because it knocked over a lamp.  The cat was brought to the animal shelter where it was euthanized. Animal Shelter manager Renee Webb says the cat has been sent to the state veterinary medical examiner.  “They’ll go through and not only do x-rays but also do a necropsy where they’ll document everything that they find,”  Webb told WFDL news. But Webb says the fact that other residents in the apartment heard noises and police officers described hearing a thumping and loud slams coming from the apartment when they arrived several minutes later indicates the animal may have suffered more than just being kicked.  “That’s exactly what was told to us when we received the call and had communication with the police officer,”  Webb said.    Buck is charged with mistreatment of an animal as a repeat offender.
