The 2016 Fond du Lac Cost of Living Index remains steady. Jo Ann Giese-Kent says the latest figures show the cost of living in Fond du Lac County is 96.8 or three point two percent below the national average. Giese Kent says the highest category in Fond du Lac County is health care and the lowest is housing. Housing costs in Fond du Lac County have an index of 79.3 or nearly 21 percent below the national average. Giese Kent says a lower cost of living attracts people and businesses to a community.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
