The second annual Sturgeon Spectacular continues this weekend in Fond du Lac. The event is tied in with the sturgeon spearing season on Lake Winnebago featuring a variety of family-friendly activities. New this year is “Guys on Ice”…a broadway-style musical about ice fishing. Ten teams will compete in the Wisconsin Snow Sculpting competition. Other events include ice-skating, the 28th annual Sturgeon Stampede, a chili crawl in downtown Fond du Lac Saturday, a bonfire on the ice Saturday evening and fireworks Saturday night. A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
