An Illinois man has been convicted of sexually assaulting a 12 year old Fond du Lac girl. At a plea hearing Monday 37 year old Paul Zidarich pleaded no contest to an amended charge of second degree sexual assault. A pre sentence investigation was ordered. Zidarich was originally charged with first degree sexual assault of a child and attempted sexual assault of a child. He was accused of fondling the girl during an incident at the child’s home two years ago. A sentencing hearing will be scheduled.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
