Winter weather is returning to the Badger state after residents enjoyed record high temps in the upper 60s earlier this week. The National Weather Service says unseasonably warm weather is giving way to more normal temperatures heading into the weekend. The weather service says Fond du Lac, Dodge and Sheboygan county residents will see freezing rain possibly mixed with sleet into Friday morning and snow Friday night into Saturday with total accumulations of 1-3 inches. Heavier snowfall totals are in the forecast to the north.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
